What are pre-employment assessments?

Pre-employment assessments are an essential part of the hiring process.  They provide a clear picture of a candidate’s ability to work safely and help confirm they are physically and/or cognitively fit for the role.

Our experienced team will assess and report on any work restrictions, further testing and review required, or additional follow-up that’s needed before determining a final fitness determination.

These customized assessments are best suited to safety-sensitive, physically or cognitive demanding, regulated, or exposure-prone positions where standard hiring medicals may not be sufficient.

What’s included?

We offer a range of testing options to create a comprehensive candidate assessment, depending on the role and worksite. These may include:

• Vision testing (distance, near, colour, visual fields)
• Audiometry, spirometry for pulmonary function testing
• ECG, urinalysis, bloodwork
• Respiratory medical review & clearance
• Drug and alcohol testing
• Immunization review
• Functional physical and cognitive testing
• Other role-specific testing

How does it work?

Our team works closely with you throughout the development and assessment process. To create the assessment, we will complete a role and hazard review used to develop a role-specific medical questionnaire and assessment.

We also coordinate required occupational health testing and provide detailed individual fitness and employer aggregate reporting.  

When needed, we support complex cases with additional review and testing or complete an independent medical examination.

What will I receive?

After the assessment is complete, you will receive a detailed report indicating whether the candidate is cleared.

If temporary or permanent restrictions or limitations are identified, we will outline any required steps before the candidate can proceed in the hiring process.
