Joanna Skenderis, MLD/Combined Decongestive Therapist
About
Joanna is a firm advocate in the prevention of pain. She looks forward to treating all of her patients, from children to the elderly, with a proactive approach to their health. Joanna utilizes her training in various massage techniques to treat conditions resulting from wear and tear, stress, work injuries, athletic injuries, and motor vehicle accidents.She is a member in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.
A graduate of York University in 2007 with a B.A in Kinesiology and Health Science, Joanna later became a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) after graduating from Kikkawa College with honours in 2011. She is always keen to expand her skill set with continuous education. Since becoming an RMT, she has successfully completed training in pregnancy massage with Trimesters.
Joanna has pursued her interest in the lymphatic system by completing intensive training with the Dr. Vodders School International, and now is a Combined Decongestive Therapist (CDT). With this new training, she is able to effectively treat clients with bruising, acute conditions, and swelling brought on by trauma. CDT is considered the gold standard in the treatment of lymphedema.
