Haslin Shanmuganathan (Clinic Director)
About
Haslin holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Integrative Biology from the University of Toronto and earned her Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 2008 from D’Youville University in Buffalo, New York. She began her career in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation clinic, where she gained extensive experience treating a broad range of conditions across diverse patient populations. Committed to lifelong learning, Haslin went on to complete her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2011.
She is a Certified Acupuncture Practitioner through the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (now Acupuncture Canada) and has advanced training in concussion management and vestibular rehabilitation, allowing her to assess and treat various forms of vertigo. Haslin is also a credentialed Clinical Instructor certified by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA).
In addition, Haslin is a trained pelvic health therapist, specializing in the treatment of urinary incontinence, pelvic girdle pain, and other conditions related to pelvic floor weakness, pain, and hypertonicity. She has a strong clinical interest in prenatal and postnatal care.
Treatments in her clinical practice include personalized exercise program, joint mobilization techniques, myofascial release, acupuncture and modalities such as ultrasound and electrotherapy. In addition, Haslin places a strong emphasis on patient education, including preventative care strategies, postural correction, and work-duty modification and encourages her patients to take an active lead in thier recovery. Haslin’s goal is to help each patient work towards their full potential in mobility and function and empower them to lead an active and healthy lifestyle through her evidence based practice.
