Punam Chohan
About
Dr. Punam is a registered Doctor of Acupuncture with a passion for multifaceted patient care. She trained as a physician (MD) from India and obtained Masters of Science in Cardiac Physiology from the St. Boniface Research Center, with the University of Manitoba. Her research on heart disease and diabetes has been published in various high-impact factor peer-reviewed medical journals and book chapters. After working in clinical research and the pharmaceutical industry for many years, Dr. Punam developed a passion for holistic and alternative medicine and obtained a degree in Holistic Nutrition (CHNC) and Doctor of Acupuncture (Dr. AC).
Through her clinical practice, Dr. Punam applies her multidisciplinary skills in the alternative and holistic health to provide patient care strategies based on the latest scientific research to address thyroid, digestive, respiratory, cardiovascular, neurological, genitourinary, mental health, immunological/cancer, and musculoskeletal/pain disorders. She is also adept in facial rejuvenation, scalp and ear acupuncture, electroacupuncture, Moxibustion, Gua Sha, Cupping, and Tuina. More than just treating diseases, Dr. Punam promotes preventative health, wellness and patient empowerment. She is very committed to helping people feel their best and really enjoys her work.
In her spare time, Dr. Punam works to promote accessibility in wellness as the co- founder and Executive Director of FitKarwaan Foundation, a health nonprofit Yoga-wellness platform that creates health communities through daily free-of-charge yoga classes, health awareness and community service. She loves hiking through Alberta’s Rockies.
