Bahar Javan
About
Bahar Javan is a registered physiotherapist, acupuncture practitioner, and certified McKenzie Therapist. She is the director of the Lifemark located at Rouge Valley Hospital and an advanced care physiotherapist. As an advanced care physiotherapist, she has completed post-graduate courses and received training by orthopaedic surgeons. She is qualified to assess, diagnose, and order x-rays for orthopaedic patients waiting for an appointment at the hospital’s surgical screening clinic. Bahar holds an Honors Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy) from Iran Medical University. After years of practice in Iran, she moved to Canada in 2004 to further her education in exercise sciences with a special interest in Neuroscience. She earned a Master of Science from the University of Victoria, BC in 2007. Further, she is finalizing the doctor of physiotherapy program at Andrews University in Michigan, USA. Bahar has taken several manual therapy courses offered through the Orthopaedic division, the Mulligan concept, and the Advanced Physical Therapy Education Institute. She is also a certified member of Mechanical Diagnosis and Therapy by The McKenzie Institute. Her acupuncture credentials include certification by the Acupuncture Foundation of Canada Institute (AFCI), McMaster Contemporary Medical Acupuncture (MCMA), and Gokavi Transverse Techniques (GTT). Bahar utilizes techniques in mechanical diagnosis and therapy, neural tension release, manual therapy, and medical acupuncture in her treatment sessions.
