Joan Wilson
About
Joan graduated from her Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy with distinction from the University of Alberta and completed her research based Master of Science in Physical Therapy while working at the University of Alberta Sports Injuries Clinic with varsity teams. Since receiving her Sport Physiotherapy Diploma in 1986, Joan has traveled to the Pan-Am and Olympic Games as a member of the Canadian Olympic Association Medical Team. During the five years of her teaching position with the Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine at the University of Alberta, Joan thoroughly enjoyed her interaction with the PT and OT students she had the privilege to instruct. She has been involved in the treatment and care of many athletes at the community through to the elite international level. Her current caseload is a mix of young and master’s athletes in various sports, weekend warriors, in addition to individuals with acute and chronic orthopedic conditions, or dizziness and balance problems. As a Canadian Alpine Ski Team alumnus, Joan remained active in Master's Ski Racing as an athlete and coach until 2004, winning multiple championships at the national and international level. In recent years, her new found passion for golf has led her to compete at the local, provincial and national level. Joan has participated as a member of the Alberta Ladies Senior Golf Team at the Canadian Women’s Senior Championships and has won at the Calgary Senior, Calgary Medalist and club championship level on a number of occasions.
