Sophia Shanks
About
Sophia spent her childhood years in Bermuda and England before moving to Nova Scotia in 2016 to pursue her interest in becoming a Massage Therapist. Sophia completed the 2200-hour Massage Therapy program at ICT Northumberland College in Halifax graduating in June 2018 and she is a registered member, in good standing, with the Massage Therapy Association of Nova Scotia.
While attending ICT Northumberland, Sophia completed courses in general Swedish Massage, Sports Massage and Myofascial release. With a keen interest in sports massage therapy she had the opportunity of working with local sports teams such as The Mooseheads and The Halifax Hurricanes, along with other professional and university athletes. She was also able to develop a diverse skillset, which enables her to treat conditions such as whiplash, compartmental syndromes, postural conditions, sprains/strains, TMJ dysfunction, etc.
Sophia is dedicated to assisting clients with her knowledge of Sports Massage, Deep Tissue Massage and Trigger-point Therapy. Although she is known for her deep tissue work, she is also an excellent choice for a general relaxation massage. She has been described as a very passionate and proficient therapist, who believes in tailoring each treatment plan to fit the individual she is treating.
While in England, Sophia achieved her Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards and loves outdoor pursuits, enjoying surfing, horseback riding and hiking with her dog Blake in her spare time.
