Steve Brake
About
Originally from Deer Lake, Newfoundland, Steve graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland with a Bachelor of Kinesiology (co-operative honours) in 2009. While there, he worked as a student athletic therapist and varsity strength and conditioning coach with the varsity basketball and volleyball teams. He then completed a Master in Physical Therapy from Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario in 2012. During his time there, Steve was a member of the varsity lacrosse team as a player and team therapist.
Since graduating from Queen's University, Steve has been actively participating in continuing education including his levels in manual therapy (currently completed up to level 3 lower) through the orthopaedic division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. To date, he has completed courses in acupuncture, dry needling, concussion rehab, K-taping, Mulligan concepts, McKenzie part one and the selective functional movement assessment.
Steve's treatment philosophy revolves around empowering the patient to improve their movement and overall function through therapeutic exercise, hands-on manual therapy, dry needling and education. Having the patient actively participate and collaborate on their treatment and goals is important in achieving success.
Steve has always been an active individual and believes it is an integral part of a healthy lifestyle. Outside of work, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, weight training, playing hockey, lacrosse and running with his dog.
